Evaluation – CAD/CAM
I enjoyed learning new things: Illustrator, Photoshop to create mood boards. Using Photoshop made it easier to be neat and to edit/remove information or change it than doing mood boards by hand. I’ve learned more about how to use the tools. I am more confident using both Illustrator and Photoshop. Illustrator was new to me and I was worried it would be hard but I learned how to use it through practice and am now much quicker.
I did my own drawings which I scanned into Photoshop and I edited them using Photoshop and I was pleased with the results and using Photoshop made them look better. If you compare my original drawing with the one I edited using Photoshop, the Photoshopped one is more effective – it looked neater and more technical.
I enjoyed doing my CAD report because I learned new things through researching. I am pleased with the report and think it worked well because I did a lot of research independently and I worked on it with Alder over a few weeks so we could edit it gradually.
Some of my illustrations I was unhappy with because I didn’t think they were nice. Some of the effects didn’t work but I learned more about Photoshop by doing them as they were experimental.
When using Photoshop, I found better tools to speed up my work. I found a tool that neatened my work automatically without me having to do it by hand. I will remember this for next time.
If I had more time I would do better illustrations. I’d spend more time on them and make them look more interesting. I would like to do a bigger scale and maybe a full view. I would have liked to have done more technical illustrations.
I liked that there was a variety of tasks within this brief so you didn’t get bored and you learned a variety of techniques. You could also work at your own pace.
I enjoyed using Youtube to learn about technical illustrations. This meant I didn’t need t ask the teachers for help with this. I would use this reference again for future work.
Working practically using CAD/Cam helped me understand my report more and what to include.
Overall I have learned how to do more professional illustrations, how to do technical illustrations, how to use Photoshop to create mood boards and story boards. I think I will use Photoshop again for precise work and mood boards and storyboard.
If this project was run again, I think it should be more practical within the studio and link in more with the sewing techniques etc.
